Meet the Team
"Leadership is mobilization towards a common goal."
Founder / CEO
Seth Johnson
I am Seth Johnson and Outsiders Nation is my lifelong dream. All my passions and pursuits culminate in the development and fruition of this project. I have been a business owner in a wide range of businesses for the last 20 years. From window washing to owning and managing a loan company and real estate brokerage, and finally, here at Outsiders Adventure Co., my experience and connections all point here. It has been my vision, to create a space and opportunity for students of all demographics to cultivate a love for learning, but even more importantly, to have room themselves to be curious and become creators. As the founder and lead dreamer at Outsiders Adventure Co. since its start in 2018, I find no greater satisfaction than seeing our 22 guides use this shared vision and their giftedness to powerfully impact our community of over 400 students and their families, witness lessons and learning come to life in positive, hands on ways, and establish that learning absolutely goes beyond what we all ever deemed possible. I also serve as board president of a local ministry chapter and it has been my pleasure to combine the principles we strive for at Outsiders with the most underserved youth of our county. I have been able to invite and lead our staff to care for incarcerated youth at events and volunteer at various camps. I have developed unconventional leadership strategies for my team and have enjoyed building a unique culture of listening and adapting, as we recognize and delight in the fact that we are always headed enthusiastically into uncharted territory.
Co-Founder/Staff Support
Callie Johnson
I am Callie and I am thrilled to be part of bringing the best of Outsiders Adventure Community to the streets of Bakersfield and the surrounding area. My role at Outsiders is to pair local talent with student needs. As a hiring lead, it has been a joy to offer employment to individuals like: a creative consultant and director for movies and tv, a creative artist who specializes in digital arts, videography and culinary arts, a writer and marketing expert, a photographer, a community liaison to incarcerated youth, a music teacher, amongst others.
My professional background consists of matching skills and abilities with community need as Kern County Director for an educational choice model charter school (2016-2020). During that time, it was my honor to locate and invest in talented, credentialed individuals with a heart to serve and support education, and pair them with local families to serve and assist them in their student(s) educational pursuits. Through this role, I oversaw/guided over 100 teachers in Kern County, led personal and professional development workshops and training, evaluated our school’s performance in all areas, and assisted in organizing programs that provided more varied offerings and opportunities in education. As a mom of 3 Outsiders students, it has been a delight to see skills and confidence grow in my own children, and they are eager to give back and serve as well, sharing what it means to be an Outsider. As a member and leader of Outsiders Nation, I am so excited to open our circle and be part of bringing what we do at Outsiders OUT, embodying our model of community and learning, without walls.

She currently writes curriculum for an outdoor, educational program that she is a part of. She has successfully taught lessons on sewing, watercolor, sketch, pottery, photography and sculpture, publishing lessons in magazines that families are able to use at home.
A journey that began serving at-risk youth at the age of 17 in the Tenderloin of San Francisco led to homeschooling 7 children of her own, beginning a co-op to share her love of hands-on learning with others eventually led her to Outsiders Adventure Co., a place where all of her gifting could be utilized in one place.
